Welcome ladies and gentleman. The return of the NBA season is finally here for us on DraftKings. In my articles moving forward, I’ll be covering the top plays at every single position, no matter the size of the slate. I will cover each tier. I will also tell you where we can pay down for a value player and pay up for a stud. Let’s dive in on this NBA slate.
NBA Draftkings – Top Point Guards
Kyle Lowry ($6,800)
Lowry is now the front-man of the Toronto Raptors as Kawhi Leonard walked off to Los Angeles to form another “Super Team” with Paul George in a shocking way. At his price point of $6,800, I believe it is a little too low when it comes to this two game slate. Lowry averaged 16 points, five rebounds and seven assists per game last season. Without Kawhi Leonard he was still averaging around the same stat line.
The Pelicans are coming in to this game without Zion and will be without him for a while. Last season the Raptors allowed opposing point guards to average 23 points, nine assists, and six rebounds per game. The two teams played at a similar pace. New Orleans averaged 106 possessions while the Raptors averaged 103 possessions per game last year. With there being no “true” star on this Raptors squad, look for Lowry to be the one trying to prove to critiques that he can lead this squad back to the playoffs.
Rajon Rondo ($5,100) (Is Questionable)
Returning with the Los Angeles Lakers, Rondo has found himself in a pretty good spot with the starting five. He averaged 30 minutes per game and 30 fantasy points per game last season. That is good for a fantasy point per minute. Last season the Clippers allowed point guards to average 24 points, eight assists, and six rebounds per game.
Rondo averaged just nine points, eight assists, and five rebounds per game last season, but we’ll have to see how he fares with the addition of Anthony Davis. Rondo’s usage was just 17.5% last season. Ideally this will climb to justify rostering him consistently. Rondo will have another weapon in Anthony Davis to feed but that also means that Davis will take some usage from the rest of the starting five.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker ($3,400)
This young rookie made some noise during the Summer League and the pre-season. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is to not be overlooked. He may come in with higher ownership sitting at a price like $3,400 on Draftkings. He averaged 15 points, four assist and three rebounds during his preseason run while averaging 19 minutes.
The injury to Zion also gives NAW a boost in playing time for tonight and most likely the future while he’s out. In College, NAW averaged 16.2 points, four assists and four rebounds while shooting 37.4% from the three point line. Nickeil Alexander-Walker gives you the salary relief you need to pay up for some stars.
