Welcome back ladies and gentleman to another NBA Draftkings article! We had a small slate of just two games yesterday to kick off the season but now we’re in store for an 11 game slate! As always, lets dive in and see who are the top plays at each position for this massive slate. We do have some top tier players on this one to choose from so some pivoting may be needed. Lets go! Good luck and cash out!
NBA Draftkings – Top Point Guards
Ben Simmons ($8,500)
Ben Simmons can finally shoot ladies and gentleman! Or so it appears. Simmons and the 76ers had a pretty good showing last season and hope to continue it this season. Simmons averaged 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists per game while averaging 34 minutes. He also held a usage rating of 22%. Now the only change is the addition of Al Horford but that should benefit Simmons more then hurting him.
He gets to face a Boston Celtics team that witnessed Kyrie Irving leave for the Nets while adding Kemba Walker. The defense will most likely not be the same. Last season they allowed opposing point guards to average 21 points, seven assists and six rebounds per game. The positive side to that is Ben Simmons almost averaged a triple double in four games against them as he averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
De’Aaron Fox ($7,700)
Coming in to their season opener tonight, De’Aaron Fox has a questionable tag that should disappear by lock. We saw some promise from the young Kings core and Fox was the main focus. He held a usage rating of 24% while averaging 31.4 minutes per game. He averaged 17 points, seven assists and four rebounds per game. Plus the major thing about this game is that it is against the Phoenix Suns.
The Phoenix Suns were a bad team last season and I believe that has not changed since then. The pace that the Sacramento Kings play at was ranked fifth last season with 106 possessions per game. Besides the pace, the Suns allowed opposing point guards to average 23 points, eight assists and 6 rebounds per game. With the fast pace offense of the Sacramento Kings, De’Aaron Fox is in store for a good season opener.
DJ Augustin ($5,000)
Me and my best friend from last season have been reunited! DJ Augustin is always at a very affordable price for someone who averaged 24 fantasy points per game last season. He averaged 12 points, five assists and 2 rebounds per game while averaging 28 minutes. Augustin and the Magic will be facing off versus the Cleveland Cavaliers in their season opener who had some struggles last season.
The Cleveland Cavaliers allowed opposing point guards to average 25 points, eight assists, and six rebounds per game. They also played at the slowest pace in the league last season with 100 possessions per game while the Magics weren’t too much better with 101 possessions. While this isn’t the prettiest game to target for plays, Augustin does bring in salary relief.
